Seychelles, another island nation, had become the third African country that had attained Coronavirus free status in the continent. 

On Monday, May 19, the Health Ministry announced the full recovery of its COVID-19 patients. The country because the third in African to be Coronavirus free after Mauritius and Eritrea.

The country’s last cabinet meeting focused on the country’s efforts in containing the spread of the virus as the resumption of life was rolled out. 

The country had recorded 11 cases of COVID-19 and all of them had been treated and discharged successfully. According to the report, 74 others are in quarantine. 

Similarly, Eritrea had recorded 39 cases of COVID-19 patients, all of who had successfully been treated and discharged. The country had, in turn, rolled out random and extensive testing in its capital Asmara, border towns, and frontline health workers. 

Also, in Mauritius, the country has recorded 332 cases. It recorded 10 deaths while 322 of its COVID-19 patients had been successfully managed and discharged as of May 11, the government portal dedicated to the pandemic had announced. 

However, coronavirus cases across the African continent continued to rise. Governments, on the other hand, continued to roll out safety measures to contain the spread of the virus. 

Also, governments across the African countries were easing lockdown as they loom to restart the economic activities. 

Meanwhile, most borders were still closed and social distance regulation was still in being strongly enforced. 

As of May 20, 2020, the total confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the African continent was 91,413. 

Statistics showed that the continent had recorded 2,907 deaths. 35, 828 had recovered while the currently active cases are 52,678.
