CoronavirusEducationNewsNigeriaLagos Says When Schools Would Re-open

Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu said that the decision to re-open schools would be taken in 2-weeks.

Mr Sanwo-Olu disclosed this during a press briefing Thursday, on the COVID-19 situation in the state.

“I know we are all eager to know the plans we have for the re-opening of our learning institutions. There is still a lot more works to be done in this regard and we are looking at the educational sector very differently.

“However, we will continue to have our online learning at our seven higher institutions.

“On primary and secondary schools, we will be engaging with the Ministry of Education and Lagos State Safety Commission and we will be coming out with a full and specific pronouncement in two weeks’ time,” Sanwo-Olu said.

The Governor said when stakeholders at primary and the secondary level agreed on protocols, including when and how schools will be re-opening, an announcement would be made.

Meanwhile, the West African Pilot News reported that state government had given mosques and churches green light to re-open on June 19 and June 21 respectively. Lagos also approved that manufacturing firms in the state could operate between 7am and 6pm.
