The governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress are preparing to meet with President Muhammadu Buhari over the party’s governorship primary crisis in Edo State.
It is gathered that the governors would seek for Buhari’s intervention in the crisis, which led to the disqualification of the Governor of Edo State, Godwin Obaseki, from the State APC primary scheduled for June 22.
The West African Pilot had earlier reported that Obaseki on Sunday held a meeting with the Rivers State Governor (PDP), Nyeson Wike. It was also learned that he held a similar meeting with his Akwa Ibom State counterpart, Udom Emmanuel.

The West African Pilot has confidently learned that the meetings are part of Obaseki consultations before taking his final decision.
A source closed to the governors who spoke on anonymity said “The governors are scheduled to meet with Mr. President tomorrow (Monday) to try to redeem what is left of previous attempts to broker peace.
“They are trying to save themselves because what is happening to Obaseki may happen to them.”
In addition, the APC Governors have expressed confidence that the party would solve its current internal challengers and turn out stronger.
This was revealed in a communique issued on Sunday, following an emergency teleconference meeting of the governors on Saturday.
The communique was signed by the chairman of the Progressives Governors Forum, Abubakar Bagudu. Bagudu made it known that the meeting was held to discuss issues around preparations for the Edo and Ondo States APC governorship primary as well as the elections which will follow.
