The Senator representing Adamawa Southern Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Binos Dauda Yaroe said the Nigerian service chiefs have become “Tin Gods” and had demoralized concrete and new Ideas in the fight against insecurity across the country.
The Senator who disclosed this over the weekend in his constituency in Mayo Belwa local government areas of the state after commissioning some of his water projects in Numan, Jada and Demsa to mark his one year in office, laments the deteriorating insecurity plaguing the nation
Sen Yaroe explained that the service chiefs who were appointed in 2015 and were left in office despite outcries over surge of attacks, ” had made it difficult to address the insecurity challenges bedeviling the nation due to lack of new innovations and ideas from upcoming officers in the military.”
According to him, the service chiefs were supposed to be retired, ” so as to give the upcoming officers opportunities to come up with new ideas and concrete innovations to tackle the problems of the insecurity bedeviling the nation.
“These service chiefs who were appointed in 2015 and were left in the office even as the insecurity continue to increase, they have become Tin gods, they have demoralized the upcoming officers from springing up new ideas to end the insecurity bedeviling the nation”
” Their mates in the military have been retired but they are left, it is a tradition in the military to retires at the service age or if you are over age to give the upcoming officers opportunities to grow ”
” If you continue to do the same thing every day without results, and you keep doing it without changes, you may be seen as somebody that is insane,” he said
He argued that presently the upcoming officers in the military who are far junior to the service chiefs, ” cannot be bold to tell them the truth.”
The senator recalls that within one year in office he was able to provide free medical outreach in Demsa and Ganye to treat about 12000 members of his constituency in various kinds of diseases, 45 youths were also trained on self-help, leadership, and entrepreneurship and he has also aid them to access loans.
To tackle other aspects of insecurity, the Senator said he will sponsor 300 students in any Nigerian university of their choice before the end of his tenure and presently 50 students are on scholarship.
Yaroe had earlier commissioned five solar-powered boreholes in different communities and the communities which benefitted from the gesture include, Bille and Demsa town in Demsa local government, Green Village in Numan local government, Wuro Abba and Jada town in Jada local government.
The senator noted that in the last one year, he has invested a lot of energy in the areas of health, water supply, youth empowerment, and education being the major needs of his people
