Aides attached to the office of the Ondo State Deputy Governor and his wife are the latest casualties of the conflict at the Government House since the Deputy Governor Agboola Ajayi, defected to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party on Sunday, but refused to resign from office.

Mr Olusegun Ajiboye, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, announced the sack of seven aides – two attached to the Deputy Governor’s wife and 5 assigned to her husband.

Those sacked included Mr Olomu Bayo, Special Assistant Special Duties; Mr Olawale Abolade Mukaila, Special Assistant Photography; Mr Babatope Okeowo, Deputy Chief Press Secretary; Mr Samuel Sam Ogunmusi, Personal Assistant (Deputy Governor); Mr Tokunbo Omotunmis, Special Assistant to the wife of the Deputy Governor; Mrs Erifeyiwa Shola Akinnugba (Photography, wife of the Deputy Governor) and Mr Allen Sowore, Special Assistant on New Media.

The dismissed aides were instructed to submit government’s properties in their possession to the Chief of Staff to the Governor.

The West African Pilot News had reported that Mr Ajayi had been prevented from exiting the Government House on Saturday night by the Commissioner of Police. The latter said the Deputy Governor was not permitted to use official vehicles since he had defected. Mr Ajayi said the vehicle was personally paid for by him.

The Governor’s office issued a statement denying it ordered the restriction of movement of the Deputy Governor.
