NewsPoliticsEdo 2020: Court Asks Ize-Iyamu and His Running Mate to Appear Before It Over Disqualification Suit

The Federal High Court sitting in Abuja has ordered the substituted service of a suit seeking the disqualification of the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, and his running mate, Audu Ganiyu, in the forthcoming Edo State election.

The plaintiffs’ application for substituted service was granted by Justice Taiwo Taiwo, who ordered that Ise-Iyamu and Ganiyu be served with the suit by pasting the court documents and the hearing notice for next sitting at the residences of the two subjects in Benin, the Edo State capital.

The proceedings were adjourned by Justice Taiwo Taiwo till August 24.

The plaintiffs, Momoh Abdul-Razak and Zibiri Muhizu, are also members of the APC. They asked the court to disqualify their party’s candidates.

The plaintiffs’ arguments for the suit included the allegation that Ganiyu gave INEC false information to support his qualification for the governorship election.

The Plaintiffs also alleged the irregularities in Ganiyu’s name and academic credentials.

They filed the suit on July 10, 2020, through their lawyer, Friday Nwosu.

The APC, Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Ganiyu, Ize-Iyamu are the defendants in the suit marked FHC/ABJ/CS/758/2020. They were sued as 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th defendants, respectively.
