President Muhammadu Buhari has pledged that his administration would boost internal security by putting more training facilities in place for the police and other security agencies in all the geo-political zones in the country.

Buhari said this on Thursday during the inauguration of a police college in the Endeh Hills area of Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area in Nasarawa State, said the measure is to tackle the persistent banditry, kidnapping and armed robbery across the country.

Buhari, who was represented by the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Muhammad Dingyadi, said it was the political will of his administration to modernize internal security network in line with the international standard.

President Mohammadu Buhari was represented by the Minister of Police Affairs, Mr. Muhammad Dingyadi at the inauguration of the Endeh Hills police college in the Nasarawa Eggon Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.

“I will boost internal security and establish training facilities in all the six geo-political zones of the country, so as to address the persistence of banditry, kidnapping, armed robbery activities across the nation.

“This training facility is of great significance as it adds to the existing one in Gwoza in Borno State and that of Ira in Ogun State,” he added.

The Governor of Nasarawa State, Abdullahi Sule, in his speech, expressed worry over the presence of two Islamic sects, ‘Darul-Salam and Hakika’ in the Toto and Awe local government areas of the state, noting that their activities have become a security threat in the state.

In his words, “I have been battling with the activities of the Islamic sects; Darul-Salam and Hakika in Toto and Awe Local Government Areas of the State.

“More worrisome, is the kidnapping activities which have pervaded the rural areas and resulted to the killing of a Traditional Ruler of Odu community in Nasarawa Local Government area.”

He added that the state has also been hit by rape, insurgency, and banditry.
