Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri has received the former House of Representatives member Alhaji Abubakar Mahmud Wambai and his supporters who defected from the All Progressives Congress APC to the ruling Peoples Democratic Party PDP in Adamawa.
The Governor at the ceremony held in the Government House, Yola over the weekend, said ‘’the people of Adamawa are yearning for change and therefore this administration will not relent until the downtrodden are giving a lease of life in the state.’’
Fintiri said he will continue to do just to all manners of people and execute people-oriented projects to nooks and crannies of Adamawa towards taking the state to the next level which will continue to draw patriotic politicians to the PDP and give them the desired attention.
To this end, he called on the defectors to work with other members of the PDP and support government in its effort of arresting the issue of criminality and bring developmental projects to Adamawa.
He added that the government is constructing a new five faculty building and 2000 hostel capacity in the new site of Adamawa State University, Mubi in order to restore the loss glory of the institution and make it one of the best in the country.
In his remark, the State Chairman of PDP Mr. Tahir Shehu had called on the people of Mubi zone to continue to rally round politicians with good track of records and in addition, directed the party leadership to accord the defector’s membership cards of the party.
Speaking on behalf of the defectors, Hon. Abubakar Mahmud Wambai who is the Madawaki Mubi said, ‘’ I defected to PDP, with all my supporters who are in thousands.
‘’ We choose to leave because APC is completely dead in the northern part of Adamawa and I am calling on the people to unite and support Governor Umaru Fintiri.
‘’In his just one year in office, Fintiri had achieved in the areas of security among other sectors in the state and we are urging him to maintain the momentum,’’ he stated.
