The Adamawa State Executive Council Wednesday approved the release of one hundred and six million naira (N106m) as counterpart funding for executing a water project in Banjiram town of Guyuk local government area.

The Commissioner of Tertiary and Professional Education, Alhaji Umaru Iya Daware disclosed this to newsmen after the council meeting presided over by Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in Government House, Yola.

Alhaji Daware explained that the memo covering the project was earlier approved by the previous administration adding that the Council has revalidated the approval for commencement of work.

According to Iya Daware, the Commissioner of Mineral Resources has briefed the Council on the progress made so far for establishment of Guyuk cement factory that will produce three thousand (300) metric tons of cement annually when established.

BUA Group and Cement Company have finalized the necessary arrangements and is waiting for a mining license from government for the project to commence. Daware added.
Contributing, the Commissioner of Housing Mr Sunday Mathew Nyagra explained that when the cement factory is finally on ground, it will provide eight thousand (8,000) direct and indirect job opportunities which will reduce unemployment rate in the state.
