A former chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Tom Ikimi has said Bola Tinubu’s efforts on the upcoming Edo election which comes up on Saturday will be futile.
He made the statement on Tuesday while speaking at the mega rally of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Benin, Edo state capital.
Ikimi who is also the former minister of foreign affairs urged Tinubu to mind his business, saying Edo his cash-laden bullion vans cannot buy Edo.
This statement was a reaction to a video in which Tinubu appealed to the people of Edo, asking them to vote Obaseki out
Ikimi further questioned the source of Tinubu’s wealth, asking him how much before emerging as Lagos state governor in 1999.
“I watched Tinubu early today talking about Edo election and democracy. You carry money in bullion vans to destroy democracy and you are talking about democracy for the people. Which democracy?” Ikimi asked.
“You carry money in bullion vans. Where are the bullion vans for Edo state? Have they arrived? Money cannot buy Edo State. Edo no be Lagos.
“Today, you move billions of naira all over the place. How did you make this money? On this Edo election, Tinubu, you have failed. Obaseki will defeat your candidate on Saturday and there is nothing your money can do about it.
“We have people on our side and nobody will be allowed to rig on Saturday. We don’t want a monster in Edo. Tinubu should mind his business in Lagos,” he said.
