United Nations in collaboration with the Korean Government is undertaking surgery of women suffering from Visico Viginal Fistula (VVF) and Competency-Based Fistula Repair Training for Doctors and Nurses from Northeast Nigeria holding at Specialist Hospital Yola.

Out of seventy  (70), VVF patients booked for the operation, thirty-six (36) have so far been operated successfully.

The lead Surgeon who is also a Consultant and Gynecologist from Federal Medical Center Yola Dr. Maisarat Bakari said the Competency-Based Training which will last for seventeen days involves Doctors and Nurses from Kwara, Sokoto, Borno, Yobe, and the Adamawa States.

 Maisarat commended the Adamawa state government and the wife of the governor for support to ensure the success of the program.

Dr. Wadinga Dauda, Managing Director Specialist Hospital Yola explained that the programme was not only to train the personnel but to repair women suffering from Visico Viginal Fistula in the Northeast.

Commenting, Adamawa State Commissioner for Health, Prof. Abdullahi Isa said the state government appreciated the presence of the operation team, nothing that some women suffered from health complications for over twenty years.

Meanwhile, Wife of the Adamawa State Governor Hajiya Lami Fintiri Saturday donated gifts to women undergoing visico Viginal Fistula  Surgery at specialist Hospital Yola.
The gifts include an undisclosed amount of money, toiletries, sanitary pads, and wrappers among others.
