The State government has taken over the multi-million naira Adamawa Geographical Information System AGIS Center, from the contractor that handles the project located at the headquarters of the Ministry of Land and Survey Yola.

The Center is to serve as a Physical and taxable inventory centre via the Art and Science of Geo-Special Mapping.

Handing over documents of the edifice to the Commissioner Ministry of Land and Survey Alhaji Ibrahim Yayaji, the contractor of the project Mr Tokumbo Siyambola said Adamawa State Government is taking the project after about ten years since its completion.

“The official transferring of the Project to the owners will boost not only revenue to the State but that the Center will also serve as a reservoir for data collection of Lands and other uses”. Siyambola added

Receiving the documents, Adamawa State Commissioner for Land and Survey Alhaji Ibrahim Mijinyawa Yayaji said it is in line with Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri’s drive to put the Center back to its proper use.

“Most of the equipment is absolute, but the Ministry has initiated a move aimed at bringing the Center back to its rightful purposes”. Yayaji said

In a remark, the Surveyor-General Adamawa State Surveyor Pwavidon Simon said the centre will boost revenue generation, business activities as well as enhance documentation of sensitive materials relating to land in Adamawa State.
