The Committee on Works& Infrastructure, Housing & Urban Development Enugu State House of Assembly on Tuesday after plenary revealed it will embark on a Statewide Project Inspection Tour from Monday 5th October 2020.

The Committee Chairman and member representing Ezeagu constituency, Chima Obieze pointed out that the oversight function is in line with the powers conferred on the State House of Assembly by Sections 128 and 129 of the 1999 constitution, Chapter 5, Part 2.

Obieze then directed, “all State Ministry of Works and Principal Officers of Rural Access Mobility Project, RAMP, are to direct all Resident Engineers & the technical team to be part of the Tour”.

“The Committee will not fail to expose any negligence, corruption, complicity, non-compliance & incompetence on the part of any Contractor & any government/civil servant discovered during the oversight,”

“Also, All Contractors found wanting will be blacklisted as the Committee has no plan to condone waste & mismanagement of taxpayers’ money,” the Chairman revealed.

“A detailed report of findings during the statewide project inspection tour with recommendations will be presented to the House of Assembly for adoption as a working document for the State,” Obieze further revealed.

The committee welcomes any useful information from the general public concerning any on-going government project within their area.
