The ban on public procession  and large gathering of people for the purpose of rally, campaign or other functions made in 2016 within the state is still enforce.

DSP Edet Okon, Borno State Police Relations Officer reiterated the ban in a statement, explained that the measure is part of government effort to forestall likely breach of law and order and ensure the safety of the citizens.

The statement read in part “This we all know is necessary due to the dastardly acts of terrorists group who would often target large crowd of people for suicide bombings and other deadly attacks.

“The Commissioner of Police is therefore using opportunity to appeal to individuals, groups and organizations within the state to continue to be law abiding and cooperate with the police to ensure that the evolving peace within the state is sustained.
