A nongovernmental organization, Mar’atussaliha Orphans and Widows Initiative based in Kano has assisted over two hundred Orphans in Mubi with food and cash which took place at Muslim Council Office, Nasarawa Mubi.
The Founder of the organization, Hajiya Khadija Sallao said the organization was formed to assist Orphans and widows considering the situation they use to find themselves having lost their bread winners.
“Wealthy individuals in society should use part of their wealth to cater for the wellbeing of the needy in society, particularly orphans.
“The organization is running an orphanage home in Lome the capital of Togo and took her nine biological children to stay with the orphans to give them a sense of belonging and for her children to experience what orphans’ pass through”. She said
In their separate remarks at the event, the Chairman Muslim Council Mubi South local government branch Alhaji Yusuf Hammanyero and Chief Imam of Kwaccham of Central Mosque Mubi, Mallam Muhammad Musa called on wealth individuals and government not to discriminate against orphans in their programmes.
They called on parents to desist from presenting their children as orphans simply to benefit from the organization’s assistance thereby denying the opportunity to benefit.
The speakers promise to visit private schools in Mubi Emirate to plead with the proprietors for them not to collect school fees from orphans.
Miss Zahra Musa who spoke on behalf of orphans in emotional tones thanked the organization for touching their lives and pledged to replicate the same gesture in future to other orphans when it has the means.
