The Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria, LCCN is set to establish a university in Adamawa state with the acquiring of one hundred and sixty (160) hectares of land has been procured near the church convention ground in Demsa for the project.

The Archbishop, Most Reverend Panti Filibus of the Church, made this known while declaring open a General Church Council meeting held at the LCCN Headquarters in Numan, added that other conditions for the proposed University are gradually been attained.

He appreciated the efforts of Hama Batta Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke geared towards securing the land against encroachment.

He expressed concern how Christmas period is characterized by hike in price of goods and services and urged members to be cautious in their spending during the yuletide.

“Government should address areas of basic needs of the citizenry considering current economic hardship being experienced by the majority.

“A report by the World Food Program revealed that there will be food shortage globally and especially Nigeria, next year, people should guard against selling the bulk of their harvest this year”. Filibus said

On COVID-19 pandemic, the cleric who is also the President, Lutheran World Federation held that various meanings were attached to measures taken by government to curb its spread, adding that as its contribution, the LCCN launched an Emergency Response Fund, which led to the distribution of food, clothing and cash to members to caution effects of the health crisis.

“Coronavirus pandemic has brought to fore, the need to adopt relevant technology to reach out to members while fellowship in smaller units was encouraged and stressed that new means of income had to be explored by the church to meet obligations”. He said
