The Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, Muhammad Babandede on Thursday during a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi applauded the efforts of the Governor towards securing the lives and properties of the people in the state.

The Comptroller-General then revealed that his visit to Enugu is to assess the degree of damage done to the newly constructed office of the Nigeria Immigration Service, Enugu State Command, during the hijacked EndSARS protests in the state.

Babandede expressed gratitude to the Governor for his support towards the completion of the project which unfortunately was vandalized a day before its inauguration by hoodlums who hijacked the EndSars peaceful protest.

“The Governor donated four transformers and vehicles to NIS. The vehicles were not only donated to us but also to all the law enforcement agencies so that security of lives and property of the people is assured in Enugu State,” Babandede revealed.

The Immigration boss further commiserated with the state government and families of victims of the hijacked EndSARS protests, both civilians and security agents, who lost their loved ones during the unfortunate incident.

Responding, Gov. Ugwuanyi regretted the sad events of loss of lives and destruction of properties by hoodlums during the EndSARS protests.

Ugwuanyi then disclosed, “The South East governors and other stakeholders have conducted extensive tour of affected facilities destroyed during the protest in the state to assess the level of damage;

“During the tour, we saw the damage to Immigration office and we are grateful to God for the minimal damage,” Ugwuanyi said.

Ugwuanyi also expressed delight at the quality of service and advisory the state office of the Immigration service has continually availed the state and reiterated his administration’s willingness to partner with the body in the discharge of its mandate which is key to robust internal security.

Some members of the Comptroller-General’s entourage include the Assistant Comptroller-General (General Services), Don O. Asogwa, the Assistant Comptroller-General, Zone G, J. C Kwazu, and the Comptrollers of the five states of Zone G, among others.
