He was also received by Anambra state Commissioner of Police CP John Abang, as well as other senior police officers in the command.

The Anambra state Commissioner of Police CP John Abang in his opening speech, thanked the IG for finding time to visit the command out of his very busy schedule. He also observed that the level of solidarity the police in Anambra state have received following the three days of mayhem, looting and violence, is evidence “that police was not attacked by members of the communities they serve but by criminals, dissidents and disgruntled elements”.

The CP also remarked that “some public spirited philanthropist/State Government have begun to rebuild, repair and renovate the destroyed facilities barely six weeks after the onslaught”.

According to the CP, “reconstruction efforts have commenced in eighteen police stations/facilities and are presently between 30% and 90% completion”.

The IGP also commended the Anambra state Police Command for the manner in which they handled the crisis in Anambra state “professionally despite provocation and resuming full police activities within a short period”.

The IGP then attended to questions and observations by some officers of the command. He also commended the Governor of Anambra State for the series of support he has been giving the Police Force.
