Mired in continuous scandals the leadership of the Niger Delta Development Development Commission (NDDC), once again, has been replaced by President Muhammadu Buhari who appointed an interim sole administrator to oversee the NDDC.
Effiong Okon Akwa who has been acting as the Executive Director, Finance and Administration of the Commission was appointed as the sole administrator to oversee the Commission till the completion of the forensic audit. Akwa is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
A presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina, disclosed this in a statement released on Saturday night.
According to him, the development became necessary as a result of plethora of litigation and a restraining order issued recently against the Interim Management Committee of the NDDC by a Federal High Court in Abuja.
Mr Akwa had joined the NDDC interim management as a replacement for Ibanga Etang, the then executive director of finance and administration, who died of covid-19.
He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants and a solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
