The bill for a law to make provision for the sum of one hundred and sixty-nine billion, eight hundred and forty-five million, seven hundred and fifty-eight thousand, five hundred naira (N169, 845, 758, 500.00) to the services of the Government of Enugu State of Nigeria for the year ending 31st December, 2021 and for other related purposes (HB.14), 2020 has scaled through second reading at the Enugu State House of Assembly hallowed chambers.

The budget presented by Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, Enugu State Governor and tagged budget of Recovery and Continued Growth was unanimously accepted by the members of the House as they took turn to commend the budget estimate.

Ugwu Uche, Deputy Speaker Enugu State House of Assembly in his presentation described the 2021 budget estimate as people friendly.

Ugwu member representing Udi North Constituency said this at the Hallowed Chambers of the Enugu State House of Assembly as members took turns to debate on the budget estimate.

“Bulk of the budget estimate is allocated to three critical sectors; Works and Infrastructures, Education and Health. These sectors are the most critical areas in the economy of any nation,” Ugwu said.

“Bearing in mind the difficult times the nation at large is in, I urge the Executives to work very hard to realize the funds so as to be able to implement the budget estimate for the good of the state,” said the Deputy Speaker.

Ibenaku Onoh, member representing Enugu North Constituency also commended the budget estimate.

“Am excited at the money allocated to Ministry of Rural Development; this shows the government’s seriousness of developing the rural areas and agriculture,”Onoh said.

Jeff Mbah chairman House Committee on Information and Communication while commending the budget, called on state government to consider completion of old projects so as to reduce number of uncompleted projects in the state.

Mbah further urged that new roads be constructed in new areas at the outskirts of Enugu metropolis. These roads, he said, will not only bring development but also link up existing roads that are currently over stretched thereby decongesting traffic.
