Two University Professors were among the twenty-seven (27) Local Government Chairmen sworn in, in Borno State, by the Governor, Babagana Zulum, himself a Professor.

It was gathered that the two Professors are Adamu Alooma and Ibrahim Bukar.

While Alooma, who is a Professor of Banking and Finance at the University of Maiduguri, took oath as Chairman of Damboa Local Government Area, Bukar, a Professor of Education, also at the same University as Alooma, took oath as Chairman of Gwoza Local Government Area.

The Governor, Professor Zalum, while congratulating all the elected Chairmen, reminded them of the major task ahead of them which they could only do with the resources at their disposal.

He directed the ministry for Local Government and Emirates affairs to immediately release to the elected Chairmen, all funds allocated to the 27 local government councils from the federation’s account so they could begin to impact lives at the grassroots.

He appealed to the elected officials to discharge their duties with the fear of God, but without fear or favor.

He also charged all the elected officials to operate in their respective local government headquarters.
