YOLA — Due to lack of official designated areas for dumping of refuse by residents in Jimeta-Yola, the Adamawa state capital forced them to dump the garbage along roadsides and into drainages thereby blocking the free flow of water sometimes resulted in flooding particularly during the rainy season.

As a result of this, the Adamawa State Environmental Managers Association (ADSEMA) had conducted sanitation exercise along Yola to Jimeta road to clear the refuse so as to have a healthy environment.

Speaking to newsmen after the exercise, Managing Director of Gabycord Nigeria Limited Mr Gabriel Ofuokwnu said the aim of the exercise is to sensitize people on the need to keep their environment clean at all times.

“The organization embarks on the exercise so as to enlighten residents on the need to cultivate the habits of keeping their surroundings clean.

“The sanitation exercise will continue on monthly basis sanitation in the state”, Ofuokwnu said.

In his remark, Mr. Exclout Necolis Financial Secretary of the Association said the sanitation exercise is to encourage communities on the need to keep their environment clean at all times.
