LAGOS — Seven members of the Ogun State House of Assembly, including the Minority Leader, Ganiyu Oyedeji, have resigned their membership of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

This was disclosed by the Speaker of the Assembly, Olakunle Oluomo, through the separate letters he read during the plenary on Thursday in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital.

Aside Oyedeji, other defectors are Musefiu Lamidi (Ado Odo Ota 11), Yusuf Amosun (Ewekoro), Sikiratu Ajibola (Ipokia), Bolanle Ajayi (Yewa South), Adeniran Ademola (Sagamu 11) and Modupe Mujota-Onikepo (Abeokuta North).

The lawmakers in their letters said their decision to join the APC was coming after due consultation with their leaders and supporters.

Reacting to the development, the speaker congratulated them for joining the ruling APC, noting that it was important to come together for the betterment of the state.

Oluomo appealed to other non-APC members in the House to also take the bold step of joining the ruling party.

The Thursday defection now made APC have 22 members out of the 26 members of the House, the ADC has three while PDP has one.
