News4,500 Drivers To Benefit From Survival Fund Scheme In Adamawa

The Federal Government of Nigeria has introduced various programmes aimed at alleviating poverty among the citizenry.

Under the “Survival Fund Scheme, four thousand five hundred (4,500) drivers from transport organizations are to benefit from Adamawa state.

Among the organizations are NURTW, NARTO, and ACMRON.

Hajiya Aisha Bawa Bello, State Coordinator Poverty Alleviation and Wealth Creation Agency (PAWECA) who disclosed this in an interview with newsmen in Yola against the backdrop of the registration of transport organizations under the scheme explained that beneficiaries are drivers and members of registered transport organizations.

The state coordinator of PAWECA explained that the categories of the beneficiaries in the transport sectors are members of the association of drivers which include the Nigerian union of road transport workers, NARTO, NACTOMORAS, and small transport organization among others.

She also announced that “There will be opening an intervention portal for guarantee off-take for survival fund for the small and medium scheme for applying for the grant and part of the criteria is one should have a business registration with Corporate Affairs Commission, active company Bank Verification Number and you must be a Nigerian.

“The agency is committed to step down the remaining schemes to the Southern zone in the state by expanding the registration centers in order to diversify the activities”, Bawa said.

She pointed out that the registration exercise which lasted for three days captured drivers with the Nigeria Union of Road Transport Workers NURTW and other smaller transport organizations.

Bawa who described the registration process as impressive, reiterated that the agency will maximize the opportunity by ensuring people in the state benefit from the scheme.
