Adamawa State Police Command’s Rapid Response Squad (RRS) has a vehicle and Tricycle along Gwalantabal and Ngurore in Song and Yola South local governments.
According to DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, Police Public Relations Officer Adamawa state Command that patrol team on 5/2/2020 sighted some criminal elements that attempted to kidnap their target but abandoned their vehicle and escaped arrest upon noticing police around.
The statement added that the Tricycle was found abandoned and recovered at a criminal hideout along Ngurore.
The statement read in part “the Police and other security agencies cannot fold its hands and watch hoodlums have a field day without taking steps to maintain law and order.
“On that strength, the Commissioner of Police, *CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, psc* has deployed additional Personnel to Operation Faruta and Rapid Response Squad, to provide watertight security within Yola Metropolis and other parts of the State to stem the tide of criminal activities and restore normalcy.
“To further strengthen strategies, the Command CP has ordered for the reclaim of the public space and prompt response to distress calls particularly during night hours which is now being used by unscrupulous elements to kidnap and other heinous crimes”.
The statement further said the Commissioner of Police directs all riders of Keke Napep operators to put on their inner lights from 7 pm to enable security operatives and members of the public to see those inside the Keke Napeps.
The statement also said the Commissioner of Police has made available the followings hotlines provide telephone numbers 08035946473 (OPERATION FARAUTA) 08089671313 (COMMAND’S CONTROL ROOM) for rapid response to any security need around the State
The statement called on anyone who’s Vehicle/Tricycle were either stolen or snatched to report to Command’s Rapid Response Squad with proofs and original Documents and claim.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police in the state has issued clear directives and has taken drastic steps on the current turn of events.
It will therefore warn those perpetrating these crimes particularly Shila activities to desist forthwith or quickly leave the State or be ready to bear the Waterloo that awaits them.
The Command craves the indulgence of all to avail the Police and other security agencies with credible information at all times so as to make the state crime-free.
