Zamfara State Governor, Bello Mohammed Mutawalle has commissioned 347.6 rural access roads and River crossings spread across the local government areas of Adamawa.

Construction of the road projects was flagged off in November 2019 by Adamawa State Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri in collaboration with Rural Access and Mobility Project two (RAMP-2) aimed at sustaining access networks to all rural populace and stimulating economic growth.

At the ceremony that was held at Kuva-Gaya in Hong local government area on Wednesday, Governor Mutawalle, commended his counterpart Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri for his great zeal towards developing the state through the execution of the projects.

“Despite lean resources in Adamawa coupled with the COVID-19 pandemic that affected the global economy, you (Governor Fintiri) are able to execute the projects, people should therefore support the laudable objectives of the present administration”, he said.

In his address at the event, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri said the project was part of fulfilling his campaign promises to enhance critical economic growth, reduce poverty and mobility in rural areas.

“The completed roads would link over three hundred communities having access to farmland, schools, and other socio-economic opportunities and other projects will be completed before the end of the tenure of this administration”, he added.

The Speaker Adamawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Aminu Iya Abbas thanked Governor Umaru Fintiri for carrying the infrastructure project across Adamawa and assured him of unflinching support.

In his remark, the state Commissioner for Rural Infrastructure and Community Development, Alhaji Abdullahi Prambe said since the inception of the Fintiri led administration, about six hundred kilometers of access roads were covered along with nineteen river crossings.

On his part, the National Coordinator of RAMP-2 who was represented by Mr. Musa Nimrod said Adamawa is adjudged as the best in the country by the World Bank in terms of executing RAMP projects and called on the Governor to facilitate surface dressing of the roads.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Project Coordinator of RAMP-2 in Adamawa, Engr. Zubairu Adamu Vandi said about six hundred and twenty-eight (628) youths were recruited by RAMP-2 to maintain all the roads constructed across the state.
