LAGOS —  A 24-year-old unemployed man, Ajibola Odusanya, on Tuesday, appeared before a Tinubu Magistrates’ Court for allegedly defrauding his two friends of 880,000.

Odusanya, whose address was not provided, is facing a two-count charge of fraud and stealing, to which he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, ASP. Ben Ekundayo told the court that the defendant committed the offences in February in Victoria Island, Lagos.

Ekundayo said the defendant fraudulently collected 685,000 from Mr. Folorunsho Adeboya and  N195,000 from Mr. Aliyu Shittu.

“Odusanya told his friends that he had some dollars that he wanted to change to Naira and a PS5 computer game for sale.

“After they had given him the money he started giving different excuses why he cannot pay back the money,” he said.

Ekundayo said the offences Contravened Sections 287 and 314 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.O. Oshin, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N250,000 with one surety in like sum.

Oshin adjourned the case until April 13 for mention.
