Barely ten days after an office of the Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) was burnt down in Akwa Ibom, another office controlled by a national agency was destroyed in Abia state.
On Tuesday, an office of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) was destroyed with fire by unidentified men in Abia state.
Femi Babalo, spokesperson of the agency confirmed this incident.
Admitting that no casualty was recorded, Babalo said an investigation into the incident is ongoing.
“The people in the neighborhood said the attack was carried out by unknown miscreants,” Godfrey Ogbonna, Abia police spokesman.
“There was no casualty because security men guarding the office ran into the 14 Army Brigade barracks for safety when the attackers arrived at the place.”
Government-owned buildings in the southeast have been targeted by gunmen in recent times.
