Adamawa State Government will conduct Biometric Verification Exercise of civil servants and Pensioners with a view to getting accurate data of the state workforce and pensioners.

 A circular signed by Dr. Barminus A. Gayus Permanent Secretary; Establishment and Training, Office of the Head of Service shows that the exercise is in consonance with the State’s Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainable Programme.

The circular dated 15th April 2021 with Ref.No.OFF/244/T.1/13 explained that the Biometric Verification Exercise which will commence on 18th May 2021 will last for six (6) Weeks.

The statement read in part “Am directed to inform all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), that the State Government will embark on a Biometric Verification Exercise of all its Active Civil Servants and Pensioners in consonance with the State’s Fiscal Transparency Accountability and Sustainable Programme.”

“The Biometric Verification Exercise will commence on 18th May 2021 and will last for six (6) Weeks.”

“The following will be required during the Exercise namely;-. (a). The physical presence of all Active Civil Servants and Pensioners at the respective Venues of the Biometric Verification Exercise. (b). National Identity Number (NIN) issued by the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC). (c). Original of all relevant Documents such as; Birth /Declaration of Age Certificates, Original Educational Certificates, First Appointment Letter, Present Appointment Letter etc.”

Meanwhile, State Head of Service Sunday Edgar Amos has signed another statement that indicates that seven centres have been created for the exercise across the state.

The centres are Sub-Treasury office Mubi, Sub-Treasury office Gombi, Sub-Treasury office Ganye, Sub-Treasury office Numan, Indoor hall Ribadu square Yola, Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola and Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board hall, Yola.

The statement further shows that the exercise will be conducted for four weeks only at Sub-Treasury office Mubi, two weeks at Sub-Treasury office Gombi, three weeks at Sub-Treasury offices Ganye and Numan.

While the exercise will last for six weeks at Indoor hall Ribadu square Yola, Adamawa State Polytechnic, Yola and Adamawa State Universal Basic Education Board hall, Yola verification centres.

In the meantime, civil servants/pensioners in the state are set for the exercise as they were seen busy at business centres photocopying their documents and at photo studio snapping passport photographs as requirements for the exercise.
