President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo celebrated Children’s Day with Children in the State House on Thursday, May 27, 2020.

May 27 is often celebrated as Children’s Day in Nigeria.

Buhari and Osinbajo commemorated the day with some kids in the Aso Rock Villa with cake and waving flags.

According to the official twitter handle of the Presidency, “The President spent the morning with a group of visiting children, at the State House. A giant card, a cake, and lots of flags and fun!”

Also on the verified twitter handle of the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Osinbajo, it was said, “Mr. President & his deputy, VP spent time with groups of children, including from Borno State, marking Children’s Day, in the Presidential Villa. Let’s all work for a Nigeria to be proud of & put our Children in better stead to make us all even prouder. Happy Children’s Day!”

On this day, before the advent of the coronavirus era, children were usually given a relatively rein and it was considered a public holiday.

Schools and educational institutions used to celebrate this day by organizing fun days, and arranging kids to go for match passes in stadia across the country.
