The colourful and historic event was held at Sani Abacha Stadium Kano which attracted eminent personalities which include presidential delegation comprising, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation Boss Mustapha, and Chief of Staff to the President Ibrahim Gambari, Governors of Bauchi, Yobe, Sokoto, Zamfara, Kogi, Jigawa, Kebbi, Lagos among others.

Alhaji Aminu Ado Bayero, the 15th Emir of Kano Emirate will be the Chairman, State Traditional Council.

Presenting the Staff of office, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje charged the Emir to cement the relationship between the government and traditional institutions towards promoting peace and economic development as his “administration’s decision to create more Emirate Councils in the State was to bring leadership closer to the people.”

Speaking after taking the oath of office, the new Emir of Kano Alh Aminu Ado Bayero pledged to work in line with guiding principles while respecting constituted authorities in the discharge of his duties and called for the support of traditional title holders, government officials and well-meaning individuals to enable him to succeed.

“Kano Emirate will operate an all-inclusive traditional institution regardless of ethnic and religious divides and cater to the needs and aspirations of the people,” he said.

In his message, President Muhammadu Buhari represented by the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo congratulated the Emir on the appointment and enjoined him to emulate the leadership qualities of his father late Ado Bayero.

In his goodwill message, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari, Chief of Staff to President Muhammadu Buhari, who is also an uncle to the Emir described the current Emir as a man of remarkable culture and principle.

“I remember with nostalgia, the passion and commitment he always exhibited in pursuit of any cause he believed in, a distinctive character that almost cost him his life prematurely on January 19th, 2013 because of his vociferous stand against Boko Haram terrorists,” he said.

“Your turbaning is providential because it is happening at a time in the history of our country when prevailing social and political conditions resonate with the ascension to the throne of my friend, your late father.”
