A 41-year-old man, Usman Hammawa, has been apprehended by the Adamawa State Police Command for allegedly beating his 36-year-old wife to death over N1, 000.

The image maker of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Suleiman Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police, CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji, commended the locals and police for exposing and making it impossible for the criminal to escape justice.

He said a fight ensued after Rabiyatu Usman demand her husband refund N1,000 she lent him and was rushed to the hospital where she was confirmed dead.

The statement read in part: The suspect, Usman Hammawa, resident of Jada Ward in Ganye Local Government Area engaged his late wife, Rabiyatu Usman in a fight following a little argument that ensued between them when the deceased demanded the refund of her One Thousand (N1000) naira from the accused.”

“Angered by her action, the Suspect applied force on his late wife by hitting her head on the wall as a result of which she fell down unconscious and was rushed to the Hospital where she was confirmed dead.”

“The Suspect was apprehended by the Police in Ganye Local Government following report received from a relative of the deceased and a good Samaritan.”

“Investigation so reveals that the Suspect being a Civil Servant with Ganye Local Government Council had five (5) children with the deceased after 16years of marriage.”

He said the Commissioner of Police CP Aliyu Adamu Alhaji directed for discreet investigations to be conducted and ensure that the Suspect is prosecuted accordingly.
