NNEWI — In a bid to create an enabling environment for economic, social, political, and other lucrative activities to thrive in Nnewi North Local Government Area, the transition chairman, Hon. Chukwudi Orizu and erudite academician, Professor Victor Madubuko had an excellent and meaningful tete-a-tete.
This is in line with the visit of Prof. Madubuko, an adjunct professor at Yeshiva University, New York to harness the available resources in Nnewi and promote the economic, commercial endowments of the only one-town Local Government Area of Anambra State.
The meeting of the duo took place in the office of the transition chairman; Nnewi North Local Government Secretariat, Uru Umudim Nnewi. Acknowledging Nnewi as the heartbeat of Anambra by the virtue of its huge contribution in trade, commerce, industry, and virtually all sectors of human endeavors.
“Nnewi has the largest Motorcycle spare parts in Africa, currently, Nnewi has an indigenous private Vehicle Manufacturing Factory; The Innoson Vehicle Manufacturing (IVM) amongst other world-class establishments scattered in all nooks and crannies of Nnewi,” he said.
Prof. Madubuko described Nnewi as a growing metropolitan city that’s competing favourably with some cosmopolitan cities of the world. To this end, he advocated for policies that would bring about tremendous turnaround time for the indigenes.
Without mincing words, he opined that Nnewi North and its environs need an effective policy that will help bring about economic and social development, the establishment of recreational facilities, housing amongst other essential infrastructure, and social amenities.
Contributing, the Transition Chairman expressed his delight at the meeting. He said, prof. Madubuko’s ideas are worthwhile as such packages will ameliorate the. the welfare of indigenes.
Recounting his impacts in the council which borders on security, creation of employment, provision of health facilities, traffic decongestion, basic grants to the elderly and indigent natives. He said he is willing to partner with prof. Madubuko is like-minded and right-thinking.
Prof. Madubuko and Hon. Orizu are team players mapping out strategies to provide Nnewi with robust welfare facilities.
