Former vice president, Atiku Abubakar, says the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) will restore peace and economic growth after taking over in 2023.

Indicating that the Buhari administration has placed Nigeria in the worst security and economic situation he has ever seen, Atiku boasted of how Nigeria experienced high economic growth under PDP leadership.

Atiku made these comments on Thursday during an interview with journalists following a meeting with Nyesom Wike, governor of Rivers.

The 2019 presidential candidate added that he believes Nigerians are eager to have PDP take over power in 2023 and remedy the damages done.

“I came here to reconcile with the governor (referring to Wike) on party affairs and how we can ensure there is unity and stability of our party so that we will take over government in 2023.

“I believe Nigerians can’t wait for 2023 to come so that PDP will return.

“I have never seen it this bad, I’m seventy plus. I have never seen it this bad in terms of security challenges, in terms of unemployment. I have never seen it so bad — this is the worst.

“Why can’t you give us time. We will come up with our policies. We will present to Nigerians when the time comes.

“You know we can do that. We have done that before in PDP. We recorded the highest growth in this country, the best foreign reserves. We reduce unemployment. You know that we can do it,” he said.

On Wike’s administration,  Atiku praised the governor for providing employment opportunities and reducing insecurity

According to him, Wike is the most active governor in the party as regards ensuring development projects, youth employment, and security.
