LONDON — The United Kingdom has expressed its willingness to support Nigeria in controlling the heightened security situation in the country.

Boris Johnson, UK prime minister, said his country is available and is ready to grant Nigeria necessary assistance.

“We are available to help,” Boris was quoted to have said.

Boris made this pledge on Thursday at a bilateral meeting on the sidelines of the Global Education Summit in London, UK according to a statement by Femi Adesina, the presidential spokesperson.

The prime minister indicated Britain’s interest to lend a helping hand after Buhari briefed the UK prime minister on  the security situation in the different regions of the country.

Femi in the statement indicated that Buhari and Johnson assessed the war against different forms of terrorism in Nigeria and agreed that the judicial process must be allowed to run its course.

Buhari also reviewed Nigeria’s power needs and efforts being made, as well as initiatives geared at achieving food security.

The leaders also discussed the leadership of the Commonwealth and how to increase trade between the two countries, develop solar and wind power, and other issues.
