AWKA — Dr. Francis Wale Oke, President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria,(PFN) has asked Federal Government to see the need to convoke a summit that would address challenges faced in Education and Health sector.

Oke said that education and health summits world comprehensively attack the enormous challenges faced in education and health sector.

The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the call was contained in a press statement signed by Oke and made available to journalists in Awka on Thursday.

The statement also urged the FG to declare a state of emergency in the country’s Health and Education Sectors.

 The PFN condemned the Federal Government’s manner of handling industrial actions in the education and health sectors as such action has yielded no positive results.

The statement decried the lethargy with which the federal government has handled the ongoing strike by the Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors.

Oke said that the allegation by the resident Doctors that government has failed to keep to the terms of the agreement it entered into with the Medical Doctors.

“Our government should not toy with sensitive issues such the health and education issues of the people.

“Government should be able to address issues that boards of developmental strides of its country,” he said.

He appealed to the governmnet to reconsider their stand on these two sectors and come up with a more agreeable point to save the sector from total collapse.
