The Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Health Ondo State, Mrs. Folukemi Aladenola has confirmed that 15 persons have been arrested for allegedly operating private hospitals below the required standard.
The suspects were accused of operating unethically and violating the stipulated rules and regulations guiding the operation of health facilities in the state.
According to Aladenola, the move became necessary towards sanitizing the health sector of the state against quackery which will enhance qualitative healthcare delivery in the state.
The suspects were arrested in Ondo South Senatorial District following an operation carried out by officials of the Ministry of Health after it visited 36 medical clinics located in Ore, Odigbo, Okitipupa, Ilutitun, and Iju-Odo among others.
Commenting, the head of the monitoring team and Director, Hospital Services in the Ministry of Health, Dr. Ayodele Adelusi, said all the affected facilities will not be re-opened until the necessary requirements were met.
