SOKOTO — To ensure the safety and security of members of motorcycle and tricycle riders association and the passengers, the Sokoto State Government on Sunday, flagged off the registration and verification of motorcycles and tricycle riders across the state.
In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Special Duties, Alhaji Saidu Gumburawa, said the registration became necessary due to the security situation in the state.
The statement further said “The contribution of the Amalgamated Motorcycle and Tricycle Riders Association to the socio-economic development of Sokoto State is enormous, and therefore, there is a need for them to support policies and programmes of government,” the statement said.
To avoid any unpleasant situation, the statement called on the members to ensure they register and collect their identification cards.
