KADUNA — Terrorists on Wednesday have abducted 30 passengers at Garun Gabas in Rafi Local Government Area of Niger State which shares borders with Birni Gwari in Kaduna State.

This might not be unconnected with the heavy onslaught on bandits by the military through ground and air in Birni Gwari, Kaduna State who have shifted to the neighbouring communities in Niger State.

Sources said the rate of abduction and cattle rustling had increased in Rafi council in recent days following the military operations that claimed 50 bandits in Birni Gwari.

It was gathered that the bandits on 30 motorcycles attack the passengers travelling in a 18-seater bus and two other vehicles, who engaged in sporadic shooting to instill fear in their captives.

The bandits were said to have taken over the highway as villagers and incoming vehicles scampered for safety amid the shooting.

An eyewitness account revealed that the bandits after the operation moved to Kundu forest where is suspected to be their new camp.
