Family members of the abducted district head of Amar in Karim-Lamido Local Government Area of Taraba State said the abductors have demanded a ransom of N25million for his release.

Amar, a town located by the bank of River Benue has been under constant attack by bandits who were said to be operating from a forest located at a border area between Taraba and Plateau states.

Alhaji Abdulkadir Suleiman, the district head of Amar, was abducted around 1: am Sunday at his palace by unknown gunmen.

Within the last week alone, the Monarch’s son and about 20 other people were also abducted in the same area.

It was learnt that the abductors have called the family of the monarch early Monday morning and demanded a N25million ransom.

It was gathered that the family members of the monarch are negotiating with the abductors in an attempt to arrive at a reasonable amount to be paid as ransom.

The abductors did not however demand ransom for the son of the Monarch and 20 others they abducted.

DSP Usman Abdullahi, Police spokesperson in the state, confirmed the abduction of the monarch and others.

“The DPO confirmed to me the abduction of the traditional ruler and others but l don’t know the number of the other persons abducted,” he said.
