LAGOS — Nollywood actor, James Ikechukwu Esomugha, popularly known as Jim Iyke has opened up on some parts of his personal life.

During a chat with Chude Jideonwo on his show WithChude, the actor revealed that he has had failed marriages and, unlike what most people think, he has three children.

According to public knowledge, The West Pilot News understands that Iyke is currently married to a US lawyer, Dana Kinduryte and the union produced a son, Harvis Chidubem Iyke. However, it seems Harvis is not Jim’s only child as he has admitted to having three children.

In the interview, the movie star said he is a private person, adding that he hates to be figured out, hence his reason for keeping his marital life out of public scrutiny.

“I have failed many times. I have had a failed marriage, I have three beautiful kids, so how are you gonna know cos of my strategic pattern? Even people that live in my space don’t know. Even my sisters call to hear from me, even my PAs don’t know stuffs. I keep everyone on their toes with my level of unpredictability, I hate being figured out. Once you figure me out, I have nothing else to offer, I refuse to be figured out and tamed,” he said.

When asked what led to his failed marriage, Jim Iyke revealed, “I suffered a loss. My mum died. She was my best friend and business strategist. She is so smart that is ridiculous. It was a relationship based on friendship and mutual respect. She always had the right words and advice to give me. I lost all that when she died, there was a spirituality and connection that I lost after she died. We were so close that it took them 72 hours to inform me of her death. I am a product of love, my parents were so in love with each other, so her death shattered my dad too. Their kind of relationship opened my eyes to the kind of marriage I wanted to.

“I didn’t grieve all through the process of her death and burial. But by the time I started to grieve, my wife became pregnant with my first son and I wasn’t as loving as I should be. I lost my sense of humor and the lion in me, so she suffered for that. I became an obsessive dad after my son arrived. I took all my love and care on our son and abandoned her instead. I was an excellent dad but a horrible husband. So after a while, she left. She said she couldn’t find the man she married anymore and we quit, but still friends.

“To heal, I had to visit different countries for weeks, from Gambia to Argentina, Moscow etc.”

The actor also touched on how the death of his mother, for whom he had sought spiritual healing at the Synagogue Church of all Nations, crushed him.

Recall that in 2013, a video showing Iyke in a deliverance session at the Synagogue Church of all Nations had surfaced online.

“When I lost my mum, I couldn’t find my feet for years. There’s an understanding, spirituality, and connection that I lost. People always wondered how I rise from things that were supposed to bury me,” he said, wiping his tears.

“My mum was lying in a hospital bed in a coma but they were saying I’m playing theatrics. I said, ‘I will live in this church for two years if you heal my mum.’ What happened, I don’t know. I saw the video and said it’s not me.

“But that’s me. I’m not an island of knowledge. I’ve done my part but one thing you can take to the bank is that, until I die, I’m the true son of Gladys.”

The movie star also talked about trying his hands on several businesses that eventually failed.

“I’m expeditious in opening gates but I just don’t know how to man the gates,” Iyke added.
