ENUGU — The Economic and Financial Crime Commission during sting operations has arrested about 33 suspects in the month of March 2022 in Enugu State.

The suspects arrested on different occasions and areas as stated on the official website of the commission will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.

On Thursday, March 10th, 2022, the EFCC Enugu Command arrested nine suspected internet fraudsters at the Premier Layout, Ogui Nike axis of Enugu State.

Their arrest was based on verified intelligence linking the suspects to fraudulence practices, impersonation and other forms of cybercrimes against unsuspecting foreign nationals;

The suspects are Napoleon Providence, Udenta Arinze, Chidiebere Jonas, Ezeh Obinna, Imonikphawae Lucky, Arinze Ugochukwu, Anieze Sylvester, Okonkwo Ifeanyi Evans and Ogugua Sopuruchukwu;

Five days later, on Tuesday, March 15, 2022, the Zonal Command arrested 24 suspected internet fraudsters in Emene and Nsukka both in Enugu State.

The 11 Emene suspects are Asikagu Chunedum; Danis Chukwueuka; Ebeye Nnamdi; Iruke Amarachukwu; Nwani Chinemerem; Okwor Ifeanyichi; Onanga Emmanuel; Onyia Peter Ifeanyi; Ude Emmanuel, Adabe Emmanuel and Ebube Nnaji Godwin.

While twelve out of the 13 suspects arrested in Nsukka are: Chinaza Onyekwelu, David Sharon, Igwenagu Chimezie, Nnachi Collins, Noble Nwodo and Okoye Ebuka, Onaga Divine, Richie Samson; Ugwu Chideru, Victor Sopuluchi, Nwajie Chidubem Eric, and Nnamani Chukwuebuka.

Items recovered from them include: laptops, phones, and a silver-colored Lexus car with registration number: FST 823 GD; a Toyota Camry car and a Toyota Venza car, a Mercedes Benz car, Lexus RX330, and a Toyota Camry 2009.
