A drunkard, Iliya Musa who hailed from Maduguva community in the Mubi North LGA of the Adamawa State has confessed to have raped the old woman.
The suspect who is now in Police custody claimed that he committed the heinous act under the influence of alcohol.
“I was returning from a wedding ceremony that night when I heard my grandmother sobbing. I went in and in the twinkling of an eye I found myself on top of her”, Musa said.
It was learnt that the suspect who was drunk committed the act on Saturday around 8:00pm when son of the victim, Samuel Adamu, reported the incident to the Police that the suspect came to his mother’s house around 8:00pm and raped her to death.
“Our neighbor, Ester Thomas heard when my mother was shouting, so she rushed and called my elder brother, Yohanna Adamu, who caught him in the act.
Spokesperson of the Adamawa State Police Command, DSP Sulaiman Yahaya Nguroje who confirmed the incident, said “the suspect would be charged to court after investigation”.
