ABUJA — The death of renowned gospel artiste, Osinachi Nwachukwu has continued to elicit reactions from different quarters.

The news of Osinachi’s death was reported on Friday, April 8.

Following her death, there have been reports that Osinachi was allegedly killed by her husband, Peter Nwachukwu. She was said to be a victim of domestic violence.

The Police, FCT Command, has arrested Mr Peter Nwachukwu after the brother of the deceased reported the case.

Recall that West African Pilot News had reported that the Minister of Women Affairs, Pauline Tallen, has vowed to get justice for the late popular gospel artiste.

The following is a breakdown of latest updates concerning the case gathered by West African Pilot News.

Osinachi’s Family Alleges Her Husband Has A Secret Wife

Peter Nwachukwu, the husband of Osinachi Nwachukwu, the deceased gospel musician has been alleged to have previously wedded another woman with whom he shares a romantic relationship in a church but hid the union from Osinachi and her family.

The hidden relationship was however exposed when one of the children of the deceased singer revealed he had once found an old and incriminating photo album hidden in his father’s room.

The child, whose name is withheld for apparent reasons, also said their mother had suspicions that their father was having a secret affair, but could not lay her hands on any concrete evidence.

Narrating how he discovered the photo album which exposed Mr. Nwachukwu’s secret, the kid said, “One day, my father was away and forgot to lock up his room. So, I entered and a voice within told me to explore the room. Then, I saw the album and out of curiosity, I opened it and saw daddy’s old photographs. From the photos, I could see that my daddy lived a wayward life.

“So, I closed the album and kept it where daddy hid it. I couldn’t tell mummy or anyone because I was very afraid that daddy will kill me, if he found out that I knew about the photos. Mummy once tried to search for things like this (album) in daddy’s room, but could not find anything.”

Osinachi’s family also buttressed the child’s position.

According to a family source who spoke to Vanguard, Peter was married to another woman before asking for late Osinachi’s hands in marriage but kept his marital status secret, adding that his first marriage eventually went sour at some point but not before the woman bore a child for him.

The source also said the family regretted allowing the late singer to marry Peter, saying if they had known about his marital history, they would have prevented their daughter from marrying him.

“We never knew Nwachukwu was previously married to another woman. If ever we knew about it prior to now, we may not have allowed Osinachi to marry him. Osinachi must have been through a lot of pain which she, unfortunately, kept away from us.” the source said.

Paul Enenche Speaks On The Death Of Osinachi Nwachukwu

The founder and senior pastor of Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Eneche, on Wednesday broke his silence over the death of popular gospel singer, Mrs Osinachi Nwachukwu.

In a video posted on his official Facebook page, Enenche revealed that he was not aware that the deceased was a victim of domestic violence.

The pastor, who is also a medical doctor, said the singer came to his office in the company of her husband, Peter Nwachukwu, some two and a half or three months ago and complained of health issues.

He said he prayed for her but when her condition did not improve, he counselled and advised them to go to the hospital for medical attention, adding that he assisted them with contacts of top medical practitioners who helped with the case.

In the 10 minutes video, Enenche said, “Osinachi Nwachikwu was a kingdom asset and a generational asset to this generation.

“Over two or three months ago, she (Osinachi) came to see me with her husband with complaints of chest pain [and] respiratory distress. I prayed for her, and prayed again.

“When the situation did not abate, I counselled them to go to the hospital to help us know what we were dealing with and they asked if I could help facilitate that process. I called the head of our medical team, Dr Osang, who is a Consultant Paediatrician at the Federal Medical Centre, Keffi, to assist with their situation and he called his colleagues at the Federal Medical Centre, Jabi, where they attended to them.

“On seeing her, they ordered some investigations after examination, and that included a CT scan. That was done and from what the doctors saw, they felt that there was a need for further investigation, either at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital or at the National Hospital in Abuja.

“I called the doctor, a consultant pulmonologist respiratory physician at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Dr Akoh Alexander, and told him the situation, and he asked that they come to see him immediately; and they went to the Gwagwalada Teaching Hospital.

“After they had examined her there and saw the situation, they felt there was a need for histology and biopsy of the lung tissue and they asked that she should go to the National Hospital to get that done.

“I again called Dr Jubril, who is the Head of Pathology and Consultant Histopathologist of the National Hospital Abuja, and reported the issue to him so he could help us with the investigation and find out what exactly happened and they continued the management.

“The histology was done, and from what I saw at that time, the picture was much milder than what the CT scan earlier showed. So, we felt very happy that, at least, there was a relief. She called me daily and we prayed with her, she reported progress; the point came when she did not need oxygen anymore.

“According to what she said to me one night, they checked her oxygen perfusion and it was 100 per cent, and we were very excited about that progress.”

Enenche said he was in Cameroon when he heard of the death of the singer.

“That was the point it was before we went for the crusade in Cameroon. It was the second night in Cameroon that I got to know of the unfortunate incident of her passing.

“If there was domestic violence that led to or coincided with those symptoms that she came with two to three months ago, there is no way I would know. And if there had been perennial domestic violence, there was no way I would have known.”

Enenche disclosed that he only got to know that Osinachi was a victim of domestic violence after her death.

He added that after hearing about the domestic violence, he decided to ask questions from the family members of the deceased and even from church members who were aware of the situation.

“The things we are hearing after her passing, are all strange to my hearing.

“First, I asked the the twin sister if she was aware that her sister was passing through all this and she said she was aware and I asked her why she didn’t tell us and she said her sister would always beg her not to tell the pastors or the church.”

He said he also questioned one of the sons of the deceased if he was aware and why he didn’t report the issue to him. Responding, he said the son said he could not report because his father was watching them closely.

Enenche further reiterated the stand of himself and the church against domestic violence.

“As a person and as a church everyone knows we have zero tolerance for domestic violence. We have always said it is better to be alive and there is no marriage than to die because of marriage,” he emphasized.

Osinachi’s Husband Denies Abusing Her, Reveals How She Died

Peter Nwachukwu, husband of late gospel artist, Osinachi, has reportedly told police investigators that he is not responsible for the death of his wife.

Denying allegations of battery, assault and other domestic violence levied against him by family members and close associates of the popular artiste, Nwachukwu disclosed that his wife had been ill since November last year and he has been moving her from one hospital to another in a bid to get her treated.

He said he first took his late wife to the Federal Medical Center (FMC), Abuja then to Gwagwalada General hospital, and then to the National Hospital, where she finally died.

The embattled husband, however, could neither disclose the nature of her illness nor could he show documents confirming the hospitals he took the late gospel artiste to.

Meanwhile, the case has been transferred from Lugbe Police Station to the State Criminal Investigations and Intelligence.
