The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria, Rev. Dr. Sampson Supo Ayokunle has called on Christians across Africa to remain steadfast to God, and not allow the news of insurgencies, bad governance, political instabilities and other misnomers to shake their faith.
He made the call while delivering a speech at the Public Lecture held as part of the activities of the 75th anniversary of Christ Holy Church International. The anniversary was held from Tuesday, April 12, 2022 to Monday April 18, 2022, at the Christ Holy Church International Central Cathedral, Ndoni, Rivers State, Nigeria.
The National Christian Leader admonished Christians in leadership positions to always stand for the truth which according to him will cause a peaceful society.
His words: “when you are in a leadership position, make up your mind to do justice. When there is justice, there is peace”
Rev. Ayokunle commended the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church International, Most Rev. (Dr.) Daniel Okoh, for his bravery and zealousness in the Christian body, across Africa. He congratulated the church for the anniversary and asked that more prayers be said for men and women whose efforts have kept the church.
Giving his lecture, titled, “Christ Holy Church International: A Story of God’s Providence”, the  President of the Goodnews Theological Seminary, Ghana, Rev. Prof. Thomas Oduro, re-affirmed and re-assured God’s providence, available to Christians all over the world.
“No human is so great to be beyond the need for God’s care and no human is so small to be over looked for God’s care” he said.
Further highlighting the evidence of God’s Providence, the renowned Professor of Theology recounted how Prophetess Agnes Okoh (Mama Odozi-Obodo), the founder of Christ Holy Church International, who was a common trader  and a woman with poor self esteem, in a male dominated society was able to pull through the odds of founding a church.
Eulogizing the General Superintendent of Christ Holy Church International, Oduro noted that through God’s providence he has been able to establish churches across the borders of Nigeria.
Also speaking, the General Secretary of the Organization of African Instituted Churches (OAIC), Rev.  Nicta Lubaale, urged members of the church to be mindful of the future, while gratefully acknowledging God’s help in the past and present. He called on the church to key into the nation building goals of Mama Odozi-Obodo, which according to him, included;  the care for women and children, education of children and the nurturing of children, among others.
The  Clergyman, thanked the leadership of the church for their continued contributions to the sustenance and survival of the OAIC, at the international level.
In an interview, the Chief Host at the Public Lecture and the General Superintendent, Christ Holy Church International, Arch-Bishop Daniel Okoh, noted that the success of the church for 75 years, is owed to total dependence and submission to the directives of the holy spirit.
Laying emphasis on the dividends of submitting to the holy spirit, the Arch-Bishop revealed that most of the portion of lands given to Mama Odozi-Obodo to establish churches, those days, were places designated at “evil forests”, but God abided with her to stand the church in those places without any negative effects on the ministers and members.
“When Mama was called, she didn’t have money to buy lands, but miraculously, the evil forests often offered to her, were what became the churches in the today’s cities. Through this, the church brought development to these towns and cities” he said.
Present at the Public Lecture also included; Ms Marie-Luise Frost (Researcher from the Humboldth University,  Berlin, Germany); Arch-Bishop Daniel John Praise ( Vice President, Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria); Dr. Anuku (Rector, NationBuilders College of Technology, Asaba); Chief Chuma Igwe (Chairman, Men’s Fellowship); Dr. Smatt Aguba (Chairman, Youth Fellowship); Dr. Victor Ivoke, Chief Sunday Ezenagu, among others.
