YOLA — The Centre for Islamic Thought Yola, (CIT) Yola, Adamawa State has held an annual Ramadan lecture at the Federal College of Education Yola where Muslim faithful were reminded of the need to be brothers keepers and contribute to the maintenance of security in the society.

In his message, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa State enjoined the citizens of the state to have spiritual security in their hearts.

Fintiri who was the special guest of honour, represented by the Special Adviser to the Governor on Civil Service matters, Barr Musa Kaibo, noted that tackling security problems is a collective responsibility, hence the need for citizens to have attitudinal change.

“Imams to always preach to their followers the need to have spiritual security in their hearts which will assist the government in addressing security problems,” he added.

The Governor then assured the organizers of government support at all times.

Also in his message, Lamido Adamawa, Dr. Muhammadu Barkindo Aliyu Musdafa has charged Muslim Ummah to pray for peace and tranquility to reign in Nigeria so that economic of the country will bounce back.

Lamido who was represented by the District Head of Nyibango, Alhaji Abubakar Jika, said the charges become necessary due to the decay of moral decadence among youths.

He suggested that the CIT should review the annual lecture and make it twice or quarterly.

In his opening remark, the Amir Centre for Islamic Thought Dr. Usman Ahmad Dadah who enumerated some activities carried out by the centre called for prayer to address the insecurity bedeviling to include kidnapping for ransom, insurgency, cattle rustling, poverty and economic sabotage.

Dadah then called on eligible voters in the country to obtain their Permanent Voters Card to enable them exercise their franchise in the 2023 general elections, explained that voter apathy will not cancel an election.

Also speaking, the chairman of the occasion who is also the State Chairman Muslim Council of Nigeria Alhaji Gambo Jika appreciated the efforts of the organizers for maintaining the annual lecture.

Earlier, the chairman organizing committee, Dr Usman Aliyu Santuraki prayed Allah to reward those who honoured the invitation.

The Guest lecturer, Dr Fadhalu Magaji Zarewa spoke extensively on the causes of insecurity and how to overcome them.

He stressed the need for people to have spiritual security and be contended always with their income and earnings, explaining that it is only Allah that provides everything for its creatures.

There were goodwill messages from Executive Secretary Adamawa State Pilgrims Welfare Commission, Alhaji Abubakar Sadiq, and Alhaji Abubakar Isa, members representing the Shelleng constituency in the Adamawa State House of Assembly.
