Association of Community Pharmacists of Nigeria (ACPN) says more than 99 percent of private hospitals in Nigeria run unregistered pharmacies.

National Chairman and Secretary of the Adewale Oladigbolu and Ezeh Ambrose, in a statement, said those hospitals lacked pharmacists to superintend dispensing and counselling of drug-related endeavours.

The association was reacting to a statement by the Registrar of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria, Tajudeen Sanusi, that private hospitals in Nigeria were the centres of unrestricted and unchecked creation of sub-professional cadres in healthcare.

The statement explained that this is contrary to the Poison and Pharmacy Act.
