YOLA — The Adamawa Emirate Council has suspended the District Head of Jimeta, Alhaji Muhammadu Inuwa Baba Paris with immediate effect.

Secretary of the council Khalil M. Kawu, in a letter said the Ward Head of Demsawo in Jimeta, Alhaji Muhammadu Jauro Baba has been appointed to oversee the affairs of the District.

The letter did not give a reason for the action of the Adamawa Emirate Council nor the duration of the suspension.

It was gathered that the action might not be unconnected with some utterances made in a public gathering by the suspended District Head recently.

Recall that the Directorate of State Services in 2015 has recommended the suspension of the District Head of Jimeta in Adamawa State, Alhaji Mohammed Baba Paris, following its investigation over alleged high-handedness.

There were petitions both against and in favour of the district head at that time. A Yola businessman, Alhaji Musa Garba, had petitioned the Adamawa Emirate Council, calling for his removal. But, Hussaini Gambo of the Adamawa Concerned Citizens group sent a counter-petition, saying the district head was loved by his people.
