Neil Parish, a lawmaker from Britain’s governing Conservative Party has been suspended after allegedly getting caught watching pornography on his phone in the House of Commons chamber.
Parish, a Conservative member of parliament since 2010, is a farmer who chairs the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Committee.
Party officials said on Friday that Neil Parish, 65, was suspended from the Conservative group in Parliament while the House of Commons Standards Committee investigates.
“Having spoken to the Chief Whip this afternoon, Neil Parish MP is reporting himself to the Standards Committee of the House of Commons,” the spokesperson for the party’s Chief Whip, Chris Heaton-Harris, who oversees discipline said.
“Mr Parish has been suspended from the Conservative Whip pending the outcome of that investigation,” she added.
Pending the result of the investigation, Parish will remain a lawmaker but sit as an independent.
The allegations against him are the latest claims of sexual misconduct in British politics.
