Nigerians have been charged to vote wisely and not based on religion or any political party in the 2023 general election.

Sheikh Sani Yahaya Jingir, National Chairman Council of Ulama, Jama’atu Izalatul Bid’ah Wa’Ikamatis Sunnah (JIBWIS) made the call while speaking at the closing ceremony of this year’s Ramadan in Dutse, the state capital of the state.

He advised Nigerians not to vote for any candidate just because of his religious belief, political party or ethnic background, because according to him, Nigeria needs God-fearing and who can alleviate the suffering of the common man.

Represented by Sheikh Hassan Abubakar Dikko, said the country needs competent leaders who can salvage electorates from trying moments irrespective of religious or political parties’ differences in the 2023 general elections.

“Prayers are the only option remaining for the country to overcome its trying moments.

“We need to have good leaders who have zeal and passion to end the current insecurity situation of the country, whoever he is and where he comes from,” he said.

Jingir, however, urged the Muslims to utilize the blessings of the Holy Month of Ramadan and pray for the peace and unity in the country.
